What are lung cancer symptoms?
Symptoms that may leads to lung cancer are:
- Coughing is the most common of lung cancer symptoms that experienced by 75% of patients.
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain or pain in the abdomen
- Weight loss, fatigue and loss of appetite
- Hoarseness
- Difficulty swallowing
- Coughing up blood
- Wheezing
Most of lung cancer symptoms such as bone pain, and weight loss are nonspecific and associated with other disease. In the past, these lung cancer symptoms may be attributed to comorbid illness. In many patients, the cancer has already spread beyond the original site by the time they have symptoms and seek medical attention. Common sites of metastasis include the brain, bone, adrenal glands, contralateral (opposite) lung, liver, pericardium, and kidneys. About 10% of people with lung cancer do not have symptoms at diagnosis; these cancers are incidentally found on routine chest radiograph.
Why lung cancer symptoms show when it’s in advance stage?
Our lung has "over" characteristic that can extent more than is size. That is why people can smoking for years without any problem with their lung or decrease its function. The lung cancer symptoms will shows after 10 years or even more. And when it does, lung cancer already is in a stage which hard to treat.
